ROSEVILLE, Mich. (TCD) — Police arrested a 42-year-old man after they found him passed out in his car with his deceased girlfriend in the passenger seat this week.
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, on Monday, Nov. 13, Martin Yost allegedly beat his girlfriend to death. The Macomb Daily reports that the 45-year-old victim suffered severe trauma to her head and face. Inside the car, police found Yost covered in blood, according to WDIV-TV.
Further investigation revealed that Yost allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Detroit, placed her in his car, and drove to Gratiot Avenue near I-94, where they were found.
Yost was charged with second-degree murder and arraigned in Roseville District Court on Thursday, Nov. 16. He remains held in the Macomb County Jail without bond and was ordered not to contact the victim’s family. Yost is set to appear in court for a probable cause hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 29, and a preliminary exam on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Yost faces life in prison if convicted.
In a statement, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said, “This is a stark and tragic illustration of the severity of domestic violence. Such crimes are deeply serious, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
