COON RAPIDS, Minn. (TCD) — A man is in custody for allegedly killing a married couple and their 20-year-old son at their house while two young children were present.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, on Jan. 26 at 12:24 p.m., county dispatch received a call with “sounds of a disturbance in the background.” Several law enforcement agencies responded to the call near the 200 block of 94th Avenue Northwest. When they arrived, they located two adult males and one adult female deceased. The sheriff’s office said two young children were also inside at the time of the incident, but they were not injured.
On Monday, Jan. 29, the sheriff’s office identified the victims as 42-year-old Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, her husband, 39-year-old Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, and her son, Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth. Alonzo Mingo was taken into custody and is being charged with three counts of second-degree murder.
According to court documents cited by the Star Tribune, on the day of the shooting, Mingo and one other person reportedly wore clothing that looked similar to that of a UPS delivery driver, while a third accomplice carried a cardboard box. Mingo worked for UPS until January.
Surveillance from the inside of the house reportedly shows Mingo and Trejo Estrada walk into a bedroom where Jungwirth and the two young children were. The Star Tribune reports Mingo held a gun to the couple and ordered them to give him money. He allegedly shot Jungwirth in the head with the children in the room. Trejo Estrada and Reyes-Jungwirth were found with gunshot wounds to the head in other parts of the residence.
Trejo Estrada is allegedly connected to drug trafficking in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and was known to deal cocaine, fentanyl, and meth. The court documents said he transferred money “numerous times to various individuals in Mexico.”
Investigators reportedly looked through a storage unit Trejo Estrada rented and discovered psilocybin mushrooms, meth, and other drugs inside.
When he spoke with investigators, Mingo reportedly said he was at home at the time of the incident and never worked for UPS.
