Missing 14-year-old Florida girl was allegedly shot and set on fire by classmates

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) — Two teens have been charged after allegedly luring a 14-year-old girl into the woods, shooting her, and then setting her body on fire.

On Dec. 4, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office announced they had received a report of a body in the woods on Dec. 2. When they arrived, officers found burnt remains that were not identifiable because of fire damage.

An investigation determined the body belonged to 14-year-old Danika Troy, who had been reported as a runaway the previous day. She was last seen Nov. 30.

WESH reports Troy’s mother made the call after her daughter’s electric scooter went missing from their home. The scooter was allegedly found near the scene along with ammunition casings. This assisted authorities in identifying her remains.

The investigation named Kimahri A. Blevins, 14, and Gabriel C. Williams, 16, as suspects in Troy’s death. They were charged with first-degree murder and taken into custody at a juvenile facility, according to the sheriff’s office.

A witness told investigators the two had planned to kill Troy, WESH reports. When detectives asked Williams why he allegedly did it, he reportedly said Troy had made hurtful comments about him. Law & Crime reports Blevins asked for an attorney when questioned.

The investigation is ongoing.
