Missing DeAsia Green 15-year-old fatally shot in alley 12 years after her father’s unsolved killing
On Jan. 9, Toledo Police learned a 15-year-old girl had been shot and left in the alley near the 1300 block of Page Street. Four days later, on Jan. 13, Toledo Police announced they took a 15-year-old into custody on a murder charge.
Police identified the victim as DeAsia Green.
According to WTOL-TV, Green’s family reported her missing Jan. 5. She reportedly went to school that day but did not tell her mother her exact whereabouts.
The teen’s death comes 12 years after her father, DeAndre Green, was shot Oct. 17, 2010, as he left a bar. WTVG-TV reports several bullets struck DeAndre Green, and he died six days later.
No one has been arrested in connection with his death, and the case went cold.
DeAsia Green’s death comes about one month after two teenage boys, Ke’Marion Wilder, 16, and Kyshawn Pittman, 15, were found deceased in the rubble of a house fire in Toledo.
In a Facebook post, her mother, TeeTee Means, wrote, “Your daddy was killed,” adding that the family is still hoping for justice in that case.
In another post, Means wrote, “Please I need justice for my baby.”
At a vigil for her daughter, Means told WTOP, “This is a wakeup call. You can’t do this, like, — these guns. You all have to put them down.”
She added, “All this senseless, nonsense killing. For no reason, and it’s all kids.”
