Missing Georgia Man Found Dead After Leaving Dog with Sitter – Crime Online

A Georgia man who vanished earlier this month has been found deceased in Bartow County.

According to the Canton Police Department, police identified the man James “Greg” Powell, 61, of Canton.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Powell left his residence in Cherokee County with his dog, Ally, at around 9:09 a.m. on November 2. Police subsequently located his vehicle near the River Green Tennis Courts in Canton.

Powell reportedly dropped Ally off with a sitter and never returned home.

His body was located in the Red Top Mountain area of Bartow County. Canton police then helped Bartow County police identify him.

So far, there is no indication of foul play and the cause and manner of death are pending, police said.

The Bartow County Coroner’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) will help determine how he died.

The story is developing. Check back for updates.
