A Utah woman reported missing last week has been found dead, and her husband has been named a “person of interest.”
Jeusselem Elieth Genes was last seen Thursday morning in Saratoga Springs with her husband, 57-year-old Alvaro Jose Urbina Rojas, who was supposed to take her to work, KSTU reported. The pair did not return home that night, and family then learned that Genes never arrived at work that morning.
Investigators pinged the couple’s cell phones and found that Genes’ was turned off. Rojas’ phone pinged in the Draper area, but officers were unable to find him or his vehicle.
The detectives learned that Rojas had a camping trailer at a storage facility in Draper and checked on it on Saturday. It was locked, and they couldn’t see inside. They were unable to get a search warrant until Monday, and when they served it, they found Genes dead inside.
The long time between Genes being reported missing and her body being found apparently let Rojas flee the state. Investigators said they traced his credit card transactions to southern California, where his vehicle was also seen in surveillance video. His vehicle was also on video in several locations en route to southern California.
Rojas is likely still driving a gray 2005 Toyota Sequoia with Utah license plate number T40 9YB. He is described as 5’09”, 193 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, Saratoga Springs police said.
