A Virginia woman missing since late last year was found dead on Monday, and two people have been charged with her murder.
Danville Police said that Debbie Ann Marrero was reported missing in November, the Chatham Star Tribune reports. Then, on Monday, they got a tip from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office that led them to an area in a hilly, rural southeastern part of the county, where they and investigators from Pittsylvania County found her body.
Reports were not clear if the tip came from Rockingham County, Virginia — which is 180 miles north of Danville — or Rockingham County, North Carolina, which is just across the state line.
Investigators are awaiting results of an autopsy from the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but they charged Deborah Lynn Hurd, 63, and Thomas Gunnell, 61, with murder.
Hurd and Gunnell are being held without bond pending a detention hearing.
No further information was made available, but police said the investigation was ongoing.
