Mississippi Tot Missing After Mom’s Body Found in Alabama – Crime Online

The body of a missing Mississippi woman was found this week in Alabama, but her toddler daughter remains missing.

Shardee McGill, 32, and her 3-year-old daughter Janae were reported missing Tuesday night by her husband, Johnathon McGill, WAPT reported. He said the pair had “packed some belongings” Sunday night and not returned. the Jackson Police Department said.

On Wednesday morning, searchers found McGill dead in a shallow body of water near Epes, Alabama, about 140 miles from her home in Jackson. Her vehicle, a black Chevrolet Equinox, was found earlier in the week in Epes.

Hinds County, Mississippi, Sheriff Tyree Jones called her death “suspicious.”

Officials are still looking for the toddler.

Some reports indicated that Johnathon McGill had been taken into custody by police, but no information was available about why, and he is not listed on jail records in Sumter County, Alabama, where Epes is located.
