A Missouri man was arrested last week for fatally beating a woman with a gardening tool.
Suspect Derrick Alling reportedly beat the victim in the head and face, resulting in multiple skull fractures. The victim’s husband said she filmed Alling acting aggressively and violently towards her in the weeks leading up to Thursday’s incident, according to the Springfield Daily Citizen.
Officials have not publicly named the slain woman, but prosecutors wrote that Alling had been threatening her because he was the beneficiary of her trust, and he wanted his inheritance.
Alling’s relationship to the victim was also not disclosed.
Booked into jail on Friday, Alling is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He remains jailed without bond.
