Missouri Man Charged With Assault, Kidnapping of 17-Year-Old Found Dead – Crime Online

A Missouri man has been charged with assault and kidnapping of a 17-year-old girl who was found stabbed, shot, and beaten to death in Kansas City.

Tyheem V. Anderson, 19, admitted that he had been in a long term relationship with Amauri Hughes but denied killing her and has not been charged with her death, KSHB reported.

Police found Hughes’ body on November 12, a day after they were called by a witness on a report of a disturbance involved Hughes. The witness said she had been sneaking out of her home in Grandview to see Anderson.

That witness reported to police that a second witness had been FaceTiming with Hughes and saw her sitting on a couch with her hands in the air, court documents say. She reported hearing a male voice say, “What? You scared of me?” and then sounds of a struggle before the call dropped.

The witness called police and went to the home, but no one answered the door. When the witness messaged Hughes’ phone, she got a response saying she was at work. But officers contacted her employer, who said she had called to say she wouldn’t be at work that day.

The court documents say that the initial witness reported getting a phone call on November 12 saying that Hughes was at a home in Raytown, followed by a call from Hughes herself, sounding “lethargic and under the influence.”

The witness drove to the Raytown residence, but found it vacant. Later, she told detectives, Anderson’s mother called and told her Hughes was at a different address, but the witness did not find her there.

After she returned home, she learned that police had found Hughes’ body. The body was found back in Grandview, KCTV reported.

A third witness told investigators about receiving a text from Anderson asking for help because Hughes was dead, according to KSHB.

Detectives said they searched a Kansas City home and found blood in several locations, a knife on the counch, and spent shell casings in the bedroom, court documents said. No one was at the home, but detectives found mail belonging to Anderson.

After Anderson was taken into custody, he told police he had been dating Hughes for three years. He said they got into an argument on November 12 over something he found on her phone and admitted breaking her phone.

Then he said that he called her an Uber and didn’t see her again after that.

Anderson has been charged with three counts of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and kidnapping.
