MIAMI (TCD) — A Missouri woman was taken into custody in south Florida this week after she allegedly killed her 8-year-old son, then ran errands for several hours with his body in the car.
Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation records show Shaneka McKinzie was arrested Thursday, Nov. 16, on a charge of first-degree murder.
According to the police report cited by NBC Miami, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, McKinzie drove her son, Jaisyn Burgos, to Hialeah Hospital. He was reportedly unconscious when they arrived and he was soon pronounced deceased. An autopsy determined the boy had been strangled to death with a tablecloth.
NBC Miami reports McKinzie allegedly told police she had been planning her son’s death for several days and ultimately strangled him when he was asleep in the backseat. Following his death, McKinzie allegedly ran errands around Miami-Dade County with her son’s body still in the car.
McKinzie is being held without bond.
