Kansas police arrested a woman on Tuesday, more than a week after her 4-year-old son reportedly died of injuries consistent with child abuse.
According to KAKE, Tiuri Blunt-Porrata died on December 8 after being sent to the hospital in critical condition. Daniel Martin, 34, was charged with child abuse following Blunt-Porrata’s death, but an investigation led to detectives building a case against the boy’s mother, Tyne Blunt, 27.
Martin’s connection to Blunt-Porrata is unclear. Wichita police spokesperson Rick Pena told KAKE that Martin was initially charged with child abuse pending an autopsy, but a murder charge was subsequently added.
Authorities alleged that Martin abused Blunt-Porrata between July 1 and December 8, though specifics were not provided.
Blunt is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child endangerment. Her bond was set at $750,000.
