A Florida mother is accused of beating her daughter because the girl was “being disrespectful lately” and “refused to do her chores,” authorities say.

Arieauna Hall, 39, has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm, Miami-Dade County jail records show. The incident occurred on Monday morning.

Hall had told her daughter and son — whose ages are unclear — to do chores around their Homestead home, according to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime. The girl was assigned to clean the bathroom, but she said her mom began pushing her and made threats such as “cutting her hands off.”

According to the affidavit, Hall began hitting her in the bathroom with a belt — causing the daughter to run “for her safety to their family vehicle.”

It is believed that at this point, the son noticed his sibling was not inside their apartment — and he told his mom. Hall found her daughter inside of the vehicle, and she beat her some more, the court document states. “Help!” the daughter yelled, according to her brother.

Help did come in the form of Homestead police officers. They arrived to find the daughter in the bathroom. She “appeared to be in emotional distress with visible signs of injury,” such as “redness and markings on her arms,” welts and bruising, according to the affidavit. The girl said she “gets whooping[s] frequently.”

Investigators also heard Hall”s story. The mother, who “appeared to be upset from this incident,” said her daughter “has been disrespectful lately and refused to do her chores such as clean the bathroom.”

She added that her daughter “put slime in the sink,” and when she asked the girl to clean up the mess, “her daughter began to be disrespectful,” per the affidavit. Upon realizing her daughter was not cleaning the bathroom, Hall caught up with her in the family vehicle where she was “hiding in the trunk.”

The suspect “stated there is previous history of her daughter running away from the residence and being disrespectful,” authorities noted.

Hall was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. She is not listed as still being there on Wednesday.
