Moms got drunk while their kids sat in car with weed: Cops

An unidentified Arizona woman was arrested along with her friend after leaving their children while they went to the bar

A pair of Arizona moms tried to convince police that they left their kids in the parking lot while they went to use a restroom — but they had both allegedly been drinking at a bar.

The Glendale Police Department posted bodycam footage from March 8 depicting a chaotic evening unfolding in a parking lot. In the post, police wrote that officers responded at about 11 p.m. that night to a call by someone who said they found a small child running around the parking lot alone. Witnesses at the scene told police that they searched for the child’s parents, but could not find any other adults around.

The child led the witnesses to a car where three more small children sat inside, two of whom were in car seats.

In the video, the witness told police, “This is [child’s name], we found her going up and down here. She took us to the car.”

When police searched the car as their BWC rolled, one officer found what police confirmed in their post was a large bag of marijuana. The officer can be heard on the video saying, “Seriously?” upon realizing what he found. The children can be heard crying in the background.

The officers stated that they searched nearby businesses looking for the children’s parents. About 45 minutes after they arrived at the scene, the two mothers finally returned to the car.

An officer told one of the women, “Hey, your kids have been here for hours.” She responded, “Hours?”
