Monique Samuels is sharing some new insight into what led to the end of her relationship with her ex-husband, Chris Samuels.
The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10 friend had been married to the football player for 11 years before their divorce in 2023. And, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday, Dec. 7, Monique opened up about the “breaking point” in their relationship that led to their divorce.
“It was really me kind of waking up and realizing that this is not the person who I thought he was, and I can’t change him,” she admitted. “And it’s not fair for me to put him in the position where I’m expecting something that he’s not.”
Monique further revealed that she was not mad at RHOP cast member Gizelle Bryant when she said that she had seen her divorce from Chris coming. “Well, now having gone through it, I see exactly where she’s coming from, and I see where she was coming from so many years ago,” she noted.
“When you’re in a marriage, I feel like one thing she got wrong was she said I wasn’t being authentic,” Monique continued. “I was. But at the end of the day, when you’re in a marriage, you typically try to keep what’s happening in the home, in the home. Trying to do that and juggle doing that on reality TV was very difficult for me. So when she saw right through certain things, it’s because she’s been through it before.”

Chris’ name has still continued to come up during RHOP Season 10. During Episode 9, specifically, the women called Chris at a party to shut down a rumor that Keiarna Stewart had heard from Karen Huger’s friend, Cherita “Cookie” Whitting about Stacey Rusch. Monique opened up about this moment and Chris’ involvement with the cast members during the WWHL After Show on Sunday evening.
“I just thought it was interesting because like, since when is he friends with all of these people that we removed from our lives years ago?” she noted. “All of it was just very confusing, and I was literally learning that information firsthand. And honestly, I don’t believe any of them. I don’t believe Chris didn’t know about it, because he’s the type that will put information out and hide his hand, so the conversation could have very well happened.”

Monique continued, noting that Chris could have come to Stacey’s defense after Keiarna accused Stacey of calling Chris to report that Monique had been “trash talking” him to the group of ladies. But instead, he admitted during the phone call that he didn’t “know nothing about what the f—k y’all people talking about.”
“He could have protected Stacey in that moment, and just threw Cookie under the bus,” she added. “He made her look like a complete fool. So. I don’t know.”
Is Monique Samuels dating anyone?
Monique is single two years after her divorce from Chris. When WWHL host Andy Cohen asked Monique if she was “back on the dating scene” on Dec. 7, she had a very simple answer: “No, I’m not yet.”

Monique also shared an update on the three children that she shares with Chris. Together, Monique and Chris are the parents to sons, Christopher Samuels and Chase Omari Samuels, as well as daughter, Milani Samuels, who were happy about their mom’s return to RHOP as a friend.

“They were excited,” she explained to Andy. “They are doing great.”
