When Monique Samuels believed she spotted warning signs in Angel Massie’s marriage to Bobby Massie on The Real Housewives of Potomac, she felt compelled to voice her concerns.
Monique first mentioned to some of the other ladies during the Colorado cast trip that Angel and Bobby’s dynamic reminded her of the one she had with ex-husband Chris Samuels at a low point in their relationship (more on that below). On The Real Housewives of Potomac After Show for Season 10, Episode 14, Monique further unpacked her reasons for pointing out the similarities that she clocked.
“When I first met her, I could see a lot of me in her situation,” Monique explained. “And I didn’t wanna just say, like, ‘Oh, just because my situation was how it was, that’s what you’re going through. I was more so like, ‘Hey, if she is going through what I went through, let me be that person that I wish I had.’ She was giving me signals that ‘I’m a woman that is doing a lot. I’m doing too much, and I’m tired.’ That’s what I was picking up from her.”

Monique added that she was particularly “irked” when Angel informed the group that she would “have to check in with Bobby” and make sure he was OK with “watching the kids” before she could commit to attending an overnight pajama party with them.
“When she said that I have to see if he can watch the kids, it was those words in particular that were such a red flag for me,” Monique added. “They’re your children. You don’t watch them. Like, it would’ve been different if it was just like, ‘Y’all, let me talk to my husband, and I’ll let y’all know.'”
The Season 10 friend concluded, “I would not be the person that I say I am in this moment, after going through everything I’ve gone through, if I see a person that’s giving me those signals, and I don’t say anything. So, I just felt it was like I need to say something. Whether she receives it or not, I need to say something, just to make sure she’s good.”
Angel Massie reacts to Monique Samuels’ marriage comparisons
Needless to say, Angel was not receptive to Monique’s concerns, nor did she consider them to be valid, once she found out about the ladies’ discussions of the matter.
“They made it an issue that I said that I needed to talk to my husband about changing our schedule, which is what you do in a marriage,” Angel remarked separately on the RHOP After Show. “It was very disrespectful to me. It was disrespectful to my husband. It was disrespectful to my family.”

She further pointed out that these conversations had been happening behind her back, despite her opening her family’s Colorado home to the women.
“I allow you to see a little more than I normally do, and instead of taking that as a gift, you use it to try and cast aspersions on my relationship,” Angel continued. “And the crazy thing is I have the most kind, supportive, magnificent husband possible. I respect him enough to say, ‘Hey baby, I’m going to spend the night with the ladies, and I’m not gonna be home tomorrow night.’ That is called a healthy marriage.”

Monique dropped the bombshell during RHOP‘s Jan. 11 episode after Jassi Rideaux brought up that Angel seemed to frequently have “emotional” reactions, regardless of a conflict being big or small.
“Yeah, but you gotta understand that there’s other stuff going on that she’s not sharing,” Monique replied. “And the reason I can confidently say that is because I’ve been in her shoes. Like, I see right through it. It’s a lot of pressure when you’re the one doing it all and you have a whole partner that may not be… I’m just hypothetically speaking… And maybe she doesn’t want to open up.”
Stacey Rusch, meanwhile, warned her to be careful, because Angel is “very, very sensitive” about Bobby.
“And that’s why,” Monique responded. “Hello, I’ve been there. She reminds me of where I was, in some ways.”
