Months Later, Mystery Still Surrounds Death of Newborn Girl Found in Garbage Truck – Crime Online

Ohio officials announced on Tuesday that an autopsy could not determine the cause of death of a newborn girl discovered in a garbage truck in June.

Waste management workers discovered the baby’s body in the rear of their truck while making collections in Plain City, Crime Online reported. An autopsy stated that the baby — who had her umbilical cord attached — suffered fractures, blunt force trauma, and lacerations all over her body, according to WBNS.

According to WSYX, the Madison County coroner said there is evidence to suggest it was a live birth. Despite the various injuries, officials could not determine if any of them caused her death.

Though the only drug found in the baby’s body was caffeine, the medical examiner’s office told WSYX it could not determine whether her mother abused drugs.

No arrests have been made. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting DNA testing in this case.

Anyone with information in this case should call the Plain City Police Department at 614-873-2921 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
