DELTONA, Fla. (TCN) —Â A mother and her son have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a juvenile who was walking home from school.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, on the afternoon of May 14, a deputy responded to the area of Courtland Boulevard and Hanford Drive and located a 15-year-old male victim with stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and required staples and stitches.
Authorities learned three males allegedly jumped the victim while he was walking home, and he was stabbed multiple times.
Investigators identified 15-year-old Aiden White as the alleged stabber. His mother, 33-year-old Kayla Cobb, allegedly came up with an “elaborate alibi” for her son, but Volusia County Sheriff Michael Chitwood said cellphone evidence gave White up.
Chitwood called Cobb his “nominee for mother of the year.”
On June 3, Cobb was booked into the Volusia County Jail on a charge of giving false information to law enforcement. Chitwood said White was also arrested and faces a charge of aggravated battery.
Officials previously arrested 13-year-old Haiden Beauvais, who allegedly “planned and orchestrated the attack,” on a charge of principal to aggravated battery.
