HEBRON, Conn. (TCN) —Â A mother of three was beaten to death in what authorities are calling an apparent murder-suicide.Â
On March 13 at around 3 a.m., authorities received a report of a disturbance at a home, Connecticut State Police announced. When troopers arrived, they forced entry and found two people dead inside: Diana Enamorado Perdomo and Gregorio Calihua-Mantiel, both 44. Police said Perdomo’s death is being investigated as a homicide and Calihua-Mantiel’s as a suicide.
According to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Perdomo died from blunt force trauma to the head, and Calihua-Mantiel died of ligature compression on his neck, the New Haven Register reports. Honduran news outlets are reporting Perdomo’s family said she was allegedly beaten with a bat, People reports.
Perdomo was from Honduras, according to the New Haven Register, and she and Calihua-Mantiel lived next door to the restaurant where they worked. She was a mother of three and a grandmother of four. Her niece, Rubi Elizabeth Sagastume-Enamorado, told the outlet that Perdomo and Calihua-Mantiel’s relationship had recently deteriorated.Â
According to People, a GoFundMe set up by Sagastume-Enamorado to bring Perdomo’s body home to Honduras for burial says Perdomo “was an incredible mother, a loving grandmother, and a woman who taught me the meaning of hard work, kindness, and what it means to be a good human being.”
The investigation is ongoing.
