Mysterious Disappearance of New York Woman, FBI Offers up to $10K Reward – Crime Online

The FBI is currently offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the disappearance of New York woman, Shaniece Harris.

According to the FBI, Shaniece, 34, disappeared after leaving her Rock Hill home on the night of May 29, 2017, to visit a friend. Her sister, Tameka, according to the search and rescue agency, Hope Alive 845, said she spoke to Shaniece before she left the home at around 8:20 p.m.

Shaniece then FaceTimed her girlfriend from the friend’s house before midnight. The friend later said that Shaniece left home with an unidentified person. The following day, Shaniece failed to return home and didn’t call her mother, which was unusual behavior for her.

With her parents traveling in Florida, Shaniece’s sister contacted the Monticello Police Department and filed a missing persons report.

Two days after vanishing, Shaniece’s dark gray Volkswagen Jetta turned up less than five miles from her last sighting along South Woods Drive. Despite extensive searches in and around the area, Shaniece was never found.

“She was a homebody and never liked to stay overnight at anyone else but her own. Her father and mother went away that weekend to the state of Florida to visit another daughter,” Hope Alive 845 founder, Domingo Ramos said. “Now, we are going on 7 years with no sound or no one came forward on her missing.”

The family, according to River Reporter, still has no answers.

“Ambiguous loss and unresolved grief is a real thing,” said Tameka. “How do you move on without knowing where she is?”

Harris is described as a biracial female who stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed between 260 to 300 pounds when she vanished. She was last seen wearing a black and gray hooded sweatshirt, black Nike Air Max shoes, and black sweatpants. She also wears prescription Versace glasses and has numerous tattoos.

“We need answers,” Ramos told the River Reporter. “We need closure. We need to find Shaniece Harris and the other people who are up here in Sullivan County as well.”

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the FBI’s New York Office at (212) 384-1000 or the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office at (845) 807-0158.
