DAVIDSON, N.C. (TCD) — A 34-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with several assault-related crimes for allegedly kidnapping a teen girl from Texas, taking her back to North Carolina, raping her, and locking her in an outbuilding.
According to Sheriff Richie Simmons, on Friday, March 10, at around 6 p.m., agents from the FBI in Texas contacted the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office regarding a 13-year-old who had been taken from Dallas and transported to North Carolina. Dallas Police were investigating the disappearance and learned the girl had been communicating with an adult male on social media, and their communications were “consistent with grooming and enticement.”
Simmons said the suspect, Jorge Camacho, allegedly “enticed her to leave the home,” and he picked her up in Dallas.
Davidson County Sheriff’s Office officials began investigating and conducted a traffic stop on Camacho. Detectives then located the girl locked in an outbuilding on a property. She was freed, taken to a local medical facility for treatment, and transported back to Texas.
Camacho has been charged with child abduction, felonious restraint, human trafficking, two counts of statutory rape, two counts of statutory sexual offense, and indecent liberties with a child. His bail is currently set at $1.25 million.
Simmons said additional charges are pending.
According to the warrant cited by WGHP-TV, Camacho allegedly brought her back to North Carolina “with the intent that the 13-year-old female be held in sexual servitude.”
