Nancy Grace Discusses Investigation Into Apparent Abduction of Nancy Guthrie – Crime Online

CrimeOnline’s Nancy Grace shares her views of the ransom letters received by media outlets regarding the apparent kidnapping of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

“There’s something in that ransom note that’s accurate,” said Grace, who worked with Savannah Guthrie when both were at CourtTV, on Entertanment Tonight. “There’s reportedly two, some people say three, ransom notes that are the same thing sent to different outlets. You have to look at who would send the ransom note to the local station there, obviously a local, and to TMZ.”

Grace also said she was struck by Guthrie and her siblings in the emotional video the released asking the alleged kidnappers to contact them. There’s been no indication that they have done so, but Tucson station KOLD said it had received a second letter Friday morning, as CrimeOnline reported.

But, Grace said, she believes the family is working with law enforcement and that they would not have issued a public statement if they “did not find something believable in the ransom note.”

Savannah Guthrie posted a second video to her Instagram account Thursday night, this one featuring only her brother, Camron Guthrie.

Grace also discussed the investigation itself and offered her thoughts on how to move forward, urging investigators to “focus on the ransom note” and lock down the crime scene, which was initially locked down and then inexplicably reopened before it was again locked down.

The CrimeOnline host further said she was skeptical of reports that Tommaso Cioni, Savannah Guthrie’s brother-in-law and husband of her sister Annie, might be a suspect.

“I could be wrong, but I find it very hard to believe that the sister and Savannah and Camron are going to make a public plea to an unknown kidnapper when they all think it’s the brother-in-law,” she said. “It just doesn’t make sense to me.”
