CrimeOnline’s Nancy Grace believes that “someone local” is possibly responsible for the disappearance of 84-year-old Arizona grandmother, Nancy Guthrie.
Guthrie disappeared from the small, affluent Catalina Foothills, an unincorporated community located around seven miles north of Tucson. The community, according to Visit Tucson, boasts “the mountain peaks of the Santa Catalina Mountains,” with “roughly 44.6 miles of desert,” AZ Central reports.
Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host, Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at home, shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, as CrimeOnline previously reported. She was reported missing by family around noon on Sunday.
“There’s a red light, there’s a stop sign, there’s a QuikTrip, there’s something,” Grace told FOX News Digital. “That’s what I’m screaming right now: technology and following the trail of that road.”
“In a neighborhood like this, there’s probably one exit to get out to the main street. That’s how those swanky neighborhoods are. ”
Following Guthrie’s disappearance, CBS affiliate KOLD in Tucson and tabloid entertainment outlet TMZ received a ransom note, with TMZ reporting on it before contacting the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
“Who would send the ransom note to TMZ? And I believe the local is KOLD, a local outlet,” Grace asked. “Somebody local, somebody who’s familiar with TMZ. Who logs onto TMZ? Who clicks there?”
Grace also questioned why someone would send a ransom note to the media but not to Guthrie’s family, “if this ransom note is real.”

Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings posted a video on Instagram, pleading for their mother’s safe return.
“We are ready to talk,” Savannah said in the video, while seated with her sister, Annie, and brother, Camron.
“However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her.”
“We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.”
On Wednesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated he believes Nancy Guthrie is still alive, although he admitted that “we have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here.”
So far, no suspects or persons of interest have been named.
The FBI said a $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Nancy Guthrie.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). Tipsters can also contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department tip line at 520-351-4900.
