NBA G-League Player & Teen Girlfriend Arrested, Missing Friend’s Remains Found in Desert – Crime Online

Police say an NBA G-League Stockton Kings basketball player and his girlfriend are behind bars after allegedly kidnapping a Washington woman and killing her.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), former Stockton Kings player Chance Comanche, 27, and his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, 19, have been arrested on kidnapping charges and both are expected to be charged with open murder.

Police say Harnden brought her friend, Marayna Rodgers, 23, to an arranged meeting with Comanche on December 6, after Rodgers arrived in Las Vegas on December 1 for vacation. After meeting up with the defendants at around 1 a.m., she was never seen again.

Loved ones reported Rodgers missing on December 7. Marayna’s friend, Garrett Comer, told Fox 5 Vegas that he believes she was taken against her will.

“I believe that she was taken against her will. I’m not sure if it was a male, a female that took her. I’m not sure, but I know this whole situation is not like Marayna whatsoever,” Comer said on December 12. “I’m not leaving until we find Marayna. There’s no other option. The only option is to bring her home. I’m not going home until I got Marayna.”

On December 13, police arrested Harnden for kidnapping and booked her into the Clark County Detention Center. Comanche was arrested on December 15.

Information obtained following the pair’s arrests led investigators to a desert in Henderson, where they discovered remains later identified as Rodgers.

A criminal complaint, according to CBS 8, stated that the defendants are accused of “detaining Rogers against her will and without her consent for the purpose of killing her and/or inflicting bodily harm.”

“Detectives determined that Harnden and Comanche were responsible for the murder of Rodgers,” LVMPD  said in a statement.

“The friend that I dropped her off with is someone that we’ve known for a good amount of time, about 6, 7 years of our life,” Comer added. “I should’ve been there with her. I shouldn’t have left my friend.”

Comanche has since been released from the basketball team. Harnden is also facing a theft charge from a separate case. She’s accused of stealing a Rolex.

Anyone with any information about the case is asked to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or [email protected].
