An investigation is underway in North Carolina after a 4-year-old girl reportedly died in a hot car last week.
Shyheim Moore, 30, allegedly left his daughter unattended in a vehicle on September 24. The girl died later that day, and Greensboro police Assistant Chief Ric Alston said her death appears accidental, according to WXII.
Police said they know what Moore was doing while his daughter was in the car, but they declined to provide details. They also described the girl’s death as preventable, according to WFMY.
Moore was arrested on September 25 and charged with felony child abuse. His bond was set at $25,000.
Moore’s daughter is the 29th child to die in a hot car this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 39 children died in hot cars in 2024.
