Nevada man who used a cellphone, hidden camera to record children in bathroom gets life in prison

SPARKS, Nev. (TCN) — A man who secretly recorded children while they were in the bathroom was sentenced to life in prison on Nov. 10.

The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release that Donald Karr II, 49, pleaded guilty to using or permitting a minor under 14 to be the subject of a sexual portrayal in a performance and possessing pornography of a person under 16.

He was arrested in 2024 after a 10-year-old girl found a camera in the bathroom she shared with the other victim, age 12. Authorities said that Karr also secretly recorded the children in two other bathrooms using a cellphone.

Deputy District Attorney Kristina Rhoades said that Karr posed “danger” to the community, according to the press release.

Karr will be eligible for parole after 12 years.
