New Details on Bronwyn Newport & Todd’s Split

Though The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City viewers already knew that Bronwyn Newport announced her separation from husband Todd Bradley by the time Season 6 reunion aired, Bronwyn’s cast members learned the news in real-time at the taping. Still, there were so many unanswered questions surrounding the shocking split,  but viewers finally got answers when Part 3 of the RHOSLC Season 6 reunion aired. 

The long-awaited segment about Bronwyn and Todd’s separation was featured in the third and final part of the RHOSLC reunion. Host Andy Cohen was in the midst of discussing how Todd’s dynamic with Bronwyn’s mom, Muzzy, illustrated a side of him that nobody had “really seen before,” immediately prior to her pausing and dropping the breakup bombshell.

“So, Todd and I are separated,” Bronwyn tearfully revealed, appearing to stun everyone on the reunion stage. When Andy asked about who initiated the breakup, she added, “It’s my choice.”

What caused Bronwyn Newport and Todd Bradley’s split

First, the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host questioned what led Bronwyn to say “enough’s enough,” before separating from Todd.

“This year was so hard for me,” she responded. “I watched myself in some of those conversations saying things I don’t think I meant.”

Bronwyn cited the example of her floating the idea of an open marriage with Todd amid new cheating allegations about him during Season 6, explaining, “I don’t really know if I’m up for that. It was like something I was wanting to be up for, if I needed to.”

She also revisited how she’d had a “helpful,” conversation with Whitney Rose on the subject, but Todd told her afterward that she “shouldn’t be talking to anybody” about their personal life. “I started to feel isolated around the choices that he was making,” Bronwyn said.

“And if I can’t talk about that to him, to anybody else, it was like I just had to deal with it,” she continued, later. “We weren’t working forward anymore. We weren’t a team anymore. I was just, like, PR for him. It no longer felt respectful. And it’s really hard to separate that interaction I had with Todd this year from the Todd I’ve known for over a decade.”

Castmate Heather Gay, meanwhile, chimed in to ask if Todd ever asked Bronwyn to quit RHOSLC.

“He never said that, but I felt like if I kept doing the show, the spotlight on the cracks in our marriage was just gonna continue to be magnified,” Bronwyn shared. “While we were filming, I kept thinking this is a dance I’ve danced maybe too many times — how I show up to rally around the choices that Todd makes on behalf of Todd, not on behalf of myself.”

Andy, for his part, eventually asked point-blank if appearing on RHOSLC had broken them up.

“The show didn’t break us up,” Bronwyn insisted. “I would say we were growing in different directions, and the show put a spotlight on that. I think as hard as this is right now, this conversation with Todd needed to happen. The show didn’t cause this; it might’ve sped it up.”

Elsewhere on RHOSLC‘s Jan. 27 episode, the WWHL host asked for insight on how Todd reacted to Bronwyn “calling for a separation” after nine years of marriage.

“Maybe the worst thing I’ve ever done was having to tell Todd I wanted him to go,” Bronwyn stated. “I feel like he doesn’t really understand why we’re in this position.”

Bronwyn went on to recall how, just days into their split, Todd had texted her to say that she he “watched the entirety” of RHOSLC, starting from Season 1, and, for the first time, also began searching his name on various social media platforms. 

The result? “[Todd] was just a decimated version of himself,” Bronwyn admitted in another emotional reunion moment. “He called me beside himself.”

A bit later, she elaborated, “The worst thing for Todd, he said, was watching the show. He said, ‘Do you feel like I never look at you when I talk to you, when you talk to me? Did you feel like me taking the cherry was, like, this huge thing?’ He was genuinely confused by some of it. He thinks that we have a history where he has shown up for me and loved me and been my friend and been my supporter, and so, who cares if he ate a cherry? Who cares if he didn’t look at me in the eye that one conversation?”

Underscoring Bronwyn’s emotional responses about Todd, Andy pointed out, “I will say, in the midst of a lot of pain, there clearly is a lot of love between the two of you.”

She replied, “I adore Todd. I’m so worried about Todd.”

As for Bronwyn and Todd’s current living situation, she shared, “I’m in Utah, and he’s here in New York.” Despite the reunion taping in NYC, the RHOSLC ‘Wife added, “I’m not seeing him while I’m here for this.” 

In closing, Andy addressed the possibility of a reconciliation, asking, “In the best universe, would your future involve him?” to which Bronwyn answered, “I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. I think we’ve just got to see what happens from here.”
