Newly unsealed docs reveal teen found in singer D4vd’s Tesla was dismembered

LOS ANGELES (TCN) — A grand jury probe is targeting alt-pop singer D4vd in connection with the body of a missing seventh grader who was found decomposing in his impounded car in 2025.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez, then 13, was last seen at home in Lake Elsinore, California, in April 2024, when her family reported her missing. Her remains were found on Sept. 8, 2025, inside a Tesla belonging to D4vd, who was on tour at the time. Rivas Hernandez would have turned 15 the day before her body was discovered.

The Los Angeles Police Department previously initiated a court order in November 2025 blocking the county coroner from releasing details about the teen’s death. According to The Associated Press, LAPD Capt. Mike Bland said the order was put into place “so that our investigators get the information before the media and the public.”

The AP reports Dv4d, whose legal name is David Burke, is the focus of the investigation in grand jury subpoenas issued on Jan. 15 that reportedly seek to have three of Burke’s relatives testify. According to a Texas judge, the family members cannot ignore the subpoenas and must go to California to testify.

NBC Los Angeles reports Burke’s family members tried to block the enforcement of demands for testimony, but a judge rejected their efforts on Feb. 2, according to a transcript of a hearing obtained by the outlet.

According to the AP, the documents were sealed in California, but court documents filed in Texas obtained by the outlet state, “Target may be involved in having committed the following criminal offenses against the laws of the State of California, to wit: One count of Murder.”

The documents state it is estimated that Rivas Hernandez was 14 when she died. Police investigators searching the Tesla in a tow yard found her body inside a cadaver bag “covered with insects and a strong odor of decay,” according to the AP. When detectives unzipped the bag, they found a partially decomposed head and torso.

The document goes on to state, “Upon removing the cadaver bag from the front storage compartment, it was discovered the arms and legs had been severed from the body. A second black bag was discovered underneath the cadaver bag. Upon opening the second bag, the dismembered body parts were discovered.”

Rivas Hernandez’s cause of death has not been revealed, per the AP. According to People, no charges have been filed against Burke.
