DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (TCN) — A man stands accused of being married to at least three different women at the same time for financial gain.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in April after a report was filed regarding possible bigamy. Allegedly, Harry Burdick Jr. held three marriage licenses with three separate women.
Authorities said the marriages all took place in North Carolina, in Lincoln, Davidson, and Guilford counties. Detectives reportedly didn’t find divorce proceedings before Burdick had already married two other women. According to the sheriff’s office, Burdick’s motives were financial and personal gain.
Burdick was arrested on Aug. 22 and faces two counts of felony bigamy. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept 22. The sheriff’s office said they believe there could be more victims.
