A North Carolina man has been arrested for killing two of his family members.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to a home in Winston-Salem at about 10:30 a.m. Friday for a welfare check after a family member reported receiving a text from Stephen Curtis Hicks “indicating he had harmed members of his family.”
Deputies said no one answered the door when they arrived, so they found an unlocked door and went inside, where they found the bodies of 76-year-old June Hicks and 45-year-old Stephen Eric Hicks.
They also found Stephen Curtis Hicks, 78, with minor, self-inflicted injuries. He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of first degree murder.
Hicks has an initial court appearance set for October 20.
No further information was released, including how the victims were related to their killer.
