Pix11 reports that Michael Ginor died from a heart attack during an Ironman cooking competition in Israel.

He reportedly suffered the attack on November 25 during the 70-mile “Galileo by the Sea” race that included running, cycling, and swimming.

On November 28, Ginor’s death was announced on his Instagram . We regret to inform you of Michael Ginor’s passing, the caption of the picture said.

It also mentioned that Michael was a loving Father, grandfather, husband, friend, mentor, visionary, and more. 

Prominent personalities in the food world, including David Burke, Adam Richman, and Rocco DiSpirito, also mourned the death of Ginor.

Likewise, Lola co-owner and friend Lenny Messina said that Michael would be remembered as a passionate, generous, fine-food artist with a keen sense of business.

Per his Hudson Valley Foie Gras bio, Michael Aeyal Ginor was born in Seattle, Washington, United States, to his Israeli expatriate parents.

Born on September 3, 1963, he was 59 at death. He resided in Great Neck, New York, with his wife Laurie and their three children: sons Yonatan & Jordan and daughter Maya.

Michael also had a brother named Natti and lived in Israel during his youth. He later attained higher education in the United States. 

He received his bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and master’s degree (MBA) from New York University.

Interestingly, Ginor still needs to start his career in the food world. His first job was with David Lerner Associates on Wall Street. He became vice president but left the Company after four years.

From there, he returned to Israel to serve in the country’s defence forces. During his time, he discovered Israeli cuisine and the production methods for top-quality foie gras that would inspire his future endeavours.

When Ginor returned to the United States, he started Hudson Valley Foie Gras, a New York farm producing the controversial fatty livers from geese and ducks.
