Gloria Rose Two Bears Fischer journeyed to the Spirit World on February 14, 2026, at the age of 78.
Gloria was born on August 6, 1947, to Albert Two Bears and Laura White Eagle on the Two Bears Ranch in the countryside of Cannonball, North Dakota. She attended Cannonball Elementary School until her father’s tragic automobile accident. Gloria then moved to Fort Yates with her mother and seven siblings, where she graduated from Fort Yates High School in 1965. After high school, Gloria worked various jobs while attending nursing school. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Mary while balancing work and family responsibilities, demonstrating the determination and strength that defined her life. She continued her education at the University of South Dakota and the University of Oklahoma, ultimately receiving her Master of Medical Science degree as a Physician Assistant (PA). Gloria began her healthcare career at McLaughlin Hospital as a Registered Nurse and later served as Director of Nursing at IHS Hospital until her retirement. She devoted her life to caring for others and was respected for her strength, leadership, and compassion.
Gloria met the love of her life, Tom Fischer, and they were married on February 23, 1966, at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church. Their 60-year marriage was built on faith, devotion, and unwavering partnership, and was a testament to enduring love and true commitment. Together they created a life rooted in love, family, and hard work. They were true partners in everything. From their union came their children, Terry Joe Fischer and Melissa Fischer. Gloria also took in her niece, Cheryl Lawrence, and raised her as one of her own.
Outside of her nursing career, Gloria loved ranch life. She and Tom attended rodeos, where she competed in breakaway roping and proudly team roped alongside her husband. She won the breakaway roping event at the Fort Yates Rodeo, a proud achievement that reflected her determination, strength, and lifelong love of rodeo. When she was not attending rodeo events, she cherished the quiet rhythms of home life, spending time cooking for her family, tending her garden, caring for her flowers, and enjoying the presence of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working around the ranch and running equipment — her favorite being the baler, making round bales. For a time, they operated a dairy farm together. Gloria loved raising animals and embraced the farm life wholeheartedly.
She was an avid gardener and always maintained a large garden that produced fresh vegetables each year. She also planted beautiful flowers that brightened the ranch home, especially her beloved red roses. Gloria loved cooking and baking for her family and was known for canning vegetables and making her famous hot pickles. Her life was a reflection of strength, faith, hard work, and unconditional love — and the legacy she leaves behind will continue to guide her family for generations.

A Prayer of Strength and Gratitude
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the life of Gloria —
for her strength, her steady hands,
and the faith that carried her through every season.
Thank You for the love she shared,
for the family she built,
for the work she did with dignity and compassion,
and for the courage she showed in all things.
Bless the fields she walked,
the gardens she planted,
the meals she prepared,
and the generations she helped raise.
May the same strength that guided her life
now guide us in her absence.
Grant her eternal rest, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
Amen.
