Our beloved Daughter, Sister, Niece, Cousin, Aunt, Mother, and Grandma, Karaly Jo Yellow Hammer, Cant’e Wast’e Wi’Good Heart Woman 44, of Cannon Ball, North Dakota started her journey to the stars, July 10, 2025.
Karaly was born, October 11, 1980, to Earlwin Sr. and Georgina White Lightning-Yellow Hammer. As Dr. Montz said, “Well, well look at that, she didn’t want no help coming into this world, that means she’s going to be rough-n-tough, and a do-it-yourself kind of girl and that’s who she was. Growing up, Kara was outgoing in everything she did and everywhere she went. She loved school and was active in sports, and clubs, her favorite was basketball. She won severaI awards, the award that stands out the most is The Chairwoman of the Boards award for most rebounds. She attended Standing Rock Schools, except for one year, when she went to Solen Public School, then returned to Standing Rock High School and graduated May 1998. She worked at Prairie Knights Casino as a lead trainer in the Feast of the Rock, Last Chance Saloon as a bartender, and Solen Public School as Cafeteria Cook.
Kara was an outspoken, humble and kind lady with a good heart despite her lifestyle, she had a beautifuI soul. She was a loving and caring person towards everyone she met, especially her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, whom she had a special bond with each of them in her own way. Kara had a humor like no other, she was a happy, goofy girl that liked to laugh, tease, and joke around with anyone that crossed her path, but the humor she shared with her siblings is something that will never be broken, no matter what.
She loved to cook for family cookouts/gatherings, holiday dinners, birthdays, etc… she made the best salads, her fry bread was always so soft and fluffy and whatever food she made was always so delicious. Kara was a homemaker, housekeeper, she loved to plant flowers and kept a garden. She enjoyed going to Prairie Knights Casino, to play the slot machines, have a few drinks, visit and meet people. She likes to travel, listen to music and hangout with cousins/friends. She was always giving a helping hand, where she seen it was needed.
Kara liked to do lots of things and there’s too much to mention, as she is our all-around girl. She’s even a hero; Kara made the decision to help others by being a donor and has already saved 5 lives, and who knows how many more. She was a little blunt at times, the “F” word would fly out of her mouth sometimes but was quick to control it. She always told her family she loved them, no matter what. She would always leave us with a hug, a big smile, see you later and I love you.
