Funeral Services for Leatrice Salinas-Walker, 55, of Ft. Yates will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ft. Yates. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery in Wakpala under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Leatrice passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Ft. Yates IHS Hospital.Â
Leah Mae Salinas was born on December 14, 1968 in Eagle Butte SD to Eloy Salinas and Mary Jo Three-legs. She attended school in Mobridge, South Dakota. She received her GED from Sitting Bull College and after went to cosmetology school in Aberdeen, SD. Later she worked at the Hair Gallery in Mobridge for numerous years. In 1992 she met William Walker, marrying that fall September 5th. She enjoyed watching lifetime movies, playing with her grandson, and watching Tiktoks. Leah loved her fur babies Boston, Scooby, Sonny, Juju, Princess, David, and BK. She also enjoyed going on Sunday drives and listening to rock music. Her good sense of humor and caring heart will be greatly missed.
Leah is survived by her three daughters, Felicia, Kaitlynn, and Matilda along with a grandson Akicita and husband William. Leah is preceded in death by her mother Mary Jo Salinas, brother Patrick Little Chief, grandparents Henry & Matilda Catch the Bear- Three Legs. She would want to give a big thanks to the Fort Yates Dialysis nurses and drivers, the members of the LDS church, family and friends, Sanford nurses and doctors, Fort Yates Police Department, and the IHS doctors and paramedics.Â
