BROWN COUNTY, Ohio (TCD) — Deputies arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of shooting and injuring his daughter’s 28-year-old boyfriend during a dispute about dirt bike parts over the weekend.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, shortly after 1:30 a.m., the Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded the area of Bradley Drive and State Route 125 just south of Russellville, Ohio, to a report of a man who had been shot in the foot. Once there, deputies found the victim, Cody Henderson, and he told them an “altercation ensued over a disagreement over dirt bike parts.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Henderson and the suspect, Bruce Haddix, got into a physical fight before Haddix pulled out a 9 mm handgun and “chased Mr. Henderson to his vehicle” outside Haddix’s home. Haddix allegedly shot multiple rounds toward Henderson and struck his car, and the victim fled on foot.
Haddix reportedly went inside his home, and a hostage negotiator eventually convinced him to exit. Brown County tactical team members then took Haddix into custody hours later, at around 4:15 a.m.
Haddix remains held in the Brown County Jail on a charge of felonious assault. His bail was set at $75,000, records show.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely. Deputies did not disclose the victim’s current condition.
