AKRON, Ohio (TCD) — A 58-year-old man is accused of killing three men after the victims were reportedly found bound and fatally shot.
On Friday, March 10, at 8:50 a.m., the Copley Police Department received a call about a body on the 2100 block of Wright Road. Officers went to the scene and found one victim, an adult Hispanic male, who had been tied up and gagged. Copley Police said he was “lying close to the edge of the roadway and appeared to have been dumped there sometime overnight.”
About 30 minutes earlier, Akron Police reportedly found two other male victims deceased “under similar circumstances.”
The Copley and Akron police departments worked together in a joint investigation and concluded the men were likely kidnapped and brought to Summit County, but they are “still trying to determine the reason for the kidnapping or what activity the victims might have been involved in.”
The Copley Police Department statement said the victims were shot and killed while they were bound and gagged, and that the locations in Akron and Copley are “close in proximity to each other.”
All three victims suffered gunshot wounds to the head.
Police identified Elias Gudino as the suspect and conducted a search at his home on the night of March 10 and in the morning of March 11. He was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder. Copley Police said additional charges are pending, and there are likely additional suspects.
WKYC-TV reports Gudino pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held without bond.
Gudino was in federal prison from 2010 to 2017 after being convicted of running a cocaine ring.
