Oleksandr Usyk delivers fresh update on Tyson Fury negotiations as deadline looms | Boxing | Sport

Oleksandr Usyk has confirmed that the final terms of agreement have been sent to Tyson Fury for their undisputed clash. The pair have been in negotiations for three months but are still yet to sign on the dotted line for their proposed four-belt shoot-out.

It is understood that discussions have stalled on the financial side of the deal. Fury is adamant he will not accept anything less than a 70 per cent lion’s share of the prize pot.

Meanwhile, Usyk’s side is hoping for a ‘fairer shake’ and has requested at least a 60-40 split. Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk had originally vowed that he wouldn’t accept anything less than 50-50 due to his client being in possession of three of the four major sanctioning body belts.

In order to help quicken up the process Krassyuk set a deadline for the end of this week to finalise the paperwork and now Usyk has affirmed that they are waiting on Fury’s signature after delivering their final demands.

Taking to Twitter, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion wrote: “The points for agreement were sent to Fury’s side. The deadline is set. The clock is ticking. The ball is on #Greedybelly’s side now. We did everything in our power to make it happen @Tyson_Fury.”

The pair are expected to box on April 29 at London’s Wembley Stadium although time is running out for an effective promotional campaign. If an agreement can’t be reached then Fury is expected to box an alternative opponent on the same date while Usyk will be forced to defend against one of his mandatories instead.
