PALMER, Pa. (TCN) —Â Authorities recently arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of killing his in-laws after his wife allegedly served him with divorce papers.
According to the Palmer Township Police Department, on June 3, officers responded to a home on Glasgow Way, where they noticed the front door ajar and Xiamon Fei standing with a gun. Fei reportedly complied with officers’ commands and put down the weapon before officials took him into custody without further incident.
Police searched the residence and found two adults, identified by WCAU-TV as Robert Ackernan and Gretchen Ackernan, both in their 70s, with gunshot wounds. Robert Ackernan was already deceased, and his wife, Gretchen Ackernan, died while en route to the hospital. Authorities also located two unharmed children, ages 4 and 5, hiding in another room.
Fei reportedly told officials his wife served him with divorce papers earlier that day. The suspect’s wife and her parents, the victims, allegedly “locked him out of his home and kept his children from him.” Fei allegedly purchased a gun before returning to the home and using a hammer to break in. Fei reportedly said when he entered, he saw his wife and kids and then shot his in-laws in the head.
Fei faces charges of criminal homicide, burglary, recklessly endangering another person, and possessing instruments of a crime.
