As CrimeOnline previously reported, Rebecca Haro claimed she woke up to find Emmanuel missing after someone reportedly knocked her unconscious on August 14.
She said she went to a Big 5 Sporting Goods in Yucaipa, because her older son needed a mouth guard.
Rebecca Haro told police she took Emmanuel with her, while her two other children and husband stayed at the local park, where their son had football practice.
She said while in the store parking lot changing the baby’s diaper, an unknown person approached her and said, “Hola,” before knocking her out.
The sherrif’s office said in a press release that during interviews with Rebecca Haro, law enforcement noted inconsistent statements. She subsequently retained an attorney.
“Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” the sheriff’s office said.
SBCSD said in an August 20 release that Jake Haro has also retained an attorney.
According to FOX 11 Los Angeles, Jake Haro’s lawyer, Vincent Hughes, claimed that there was a possible sighting of Emmanuel in Bakersfield.
Police have not confirmed the information, while the attorney said investigators didn’t follow up.”
“It’s very clear that their own community is going against them without any definitive evidence that they did anything wrong,” Hughes said.
Meanwhile, KTLA reports that detective are investigating a possible video showing Rebecca Haro with the black eye as early as August 3, and a claim that Emmanuel was not seen at the park with the family on the day in question.
The couple’s 2-year-old child has been removed from their custody, and the child’s grandmother said that police brought cadaver dogs to the family’s home.
