Pelicans rule star man Zion Williamson out for at least ANOTHER two weeks after more tests on his hamstring… as their season continues to slip away
The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that forward Zion Williamson will remain out for at least another two weeks after having his right hamstring further evaluated.
He will be reassessed in approximately another two weeks to see how his injury has progressed, but the news comes as another big blow to the team.
The two-week timeline will set his exam right after the Pelicans play consecutive games against the struggling Houston Rockets on March 17th and 19th.Â
Williamson was initially injured in early January and it was said he would be out for at least three weeks. At the end of January he was ruled out for at least another five games.

Despite missing an extended period of time Williamson was still voted an All-Star starter
New Orleans has remained in the playoff picture despite missing their star player for what will have amounted to at least two and a half months of action.
The team currently is locked in a three-way tie with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers for 10th place in the NBA Western Conference with a record of 31-34.Â
If the season ended today the Pelicans would own the tie breaker, securing them the final place in the NBA play-in tournament.
Before he was sidelined Williamson averaged 26 points, seven rebounds, and 4.6 assist through 29 games this season.
Those numbers were strong enough to see him voted as an All-Star starter despite missing a large amount of action.
Fellow star forward Brandon Ingram has also missed a large amount of time due to injury and has only played in 30 games this year despite all averaging 23 points per game.
These injuries have left veteran shooting guard CJ McCollum to carry the offense for the Pelicans and keep the team’s postseason hopes alive.Â
