Pennsylvania Mother Gets Life in Prison for Killing 2 Sons, Trying to Shoot Neighbor – Crime Online

A Pennsylvania mom will spend the rest of her life behind bars for murdering her two young sons and attempting to kill a third person, CBS News reports.

On Wednesday, 40-year-old Trinh Nguyen pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of 9-year-old Nelson Tini and 13-year-old Jeffrey Tini on May 2, 2022.

Authorities alleged that Nguyen shot the boys in their beds and also tried to shoot a neighbor, who was a cousin of the children, but the gun did not fire.

Following the shootings in Upper Makefield Township, Nguyen went to New Jersey and bought drugs, which she ingested in an attempt to commit suicide.

She was found inside her family’s minivan at a church and then taken into custody. A note inside the vehicle allegedly read: “Please call 911! My children are Dead in their bed at 119 Timber Ridge Rd 18940.”

Nguyen was reportedly facing eviction from her home and dealing with other challenges at the time. Authorities alleged she had planned the killings at least one week earlier and left a note at home about what to do with her sons’ remains.

The two boys were rushed to the hospital and died days later after their organs were donated.

A judge sentenced Nguyen to two life terms without parole for murdering the boys and 10-20 years for the attempted murder of the neighbor, for which she also pleaded guilty, according to WPVI-TV.

Nguyen was involuntarily committed to a mental health facility after her arrest, but she did not raise a mental health defense in the criminal proceedings.

“It’s clear our evidence showed that this defendant had that wickedness of disposition that she had made these plans,” First Assistant District Attorney Jen Schorn said in a press release, according to the Bucks County Herald. “She wrote a manifesto laying out what she was going to do, and you could see throughout the hate she had for others and the people she blamed.”
