The shooting took place around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Cottman and Rising Sun avenues, in the city’s Burholme neighborhood. The victims, all students from Northeast High School, ranged in age from 15 to 17 years old. One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, was shot nine times and was hospitalized in critical condition. The incident was captured on surveillance video, which played a crucial role in the investigation.

The 15-year-old suspect, identified as the “spotter,” was found to have been inside a Dunkin’ Donuts located across the street from the bus stop where the shooting occurred. Investigators determined that this suspect was in communication with the other suspects who were allegedly inside the blue Hyundai Sonata used in the shooting.

Phone records showed that the “spotter” identified people at the bus stop for the shooters and sent pictures, indicating his active role in the planning of the attack. The suspect even advised the shooters on what kind of clothing he was wearing and told them not to shoot him, suggesting a level of coordination and planning that was not initially apparent.

The “spotter” also provided instructions to the shooters on when to “go,” which is when the three suspects exited the car and committed the shooting. This level of coordination and planning, as well as the use of a stolen vehicle with a counterfeit license plate, highlight the complexity and organization of the crime.

The arrest of the fifth suspect, along with the previous arrests, underscores the gravity of the incident and the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case has sparked outrage and concern among the community, with officials expressing hope that these arrests can help alleviate the fear and anxiety felt by students and their families.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. The arrests of the suspects, including Asir Boone, who was taken into custody in Virginia, indicate a significant step towards bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of students in the area.
