Police Officer Serving as School Resource Officer Charged With Having Sex with Student – Crime Online

A Pennsylvania police officer has been accused sexual assaulting a student at the school where he served as a school resource officer.

Jordan Jones, 29, was charged with institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors, WPVI reported.

Abington Township Police said they were tipped to the case by school officials, who said the 17-year-old student told a counselor that she was having sex with Jones.

The student said the relationship began last November and that she met Jones multiple times at his home for sex.

Police said they’ve put Jones on administrative leave with intent to dismiss.

“As your Chief, I cannot find the words to accurately convey the pain that this betrayal of trust has caused so many, not the least of which is our victim in this case,” Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy said in a statement. “These allegations and the subsequent arrest of Jordan Jones are profoundly disturbing.”

Molloy said Jones’s actions “brought immeasurable discredit” to the department and the profession but stressed that they “do not reflect the great work that the men and women in the Abington Township Police Department do every day.”

Jones has been given a $50,000 bail and ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family. He is also banned from the school and must be supervised in the presence of all minors.

The school district said they planned to have additional counselors on hand at Abington Senior High School “to support any students or staff members who may be having difficulties processing this news.”
