Porsha Williams and Patrice “Sway” McKinney go way back — perhaps further than many fans might’ve expected. In between her busy work schedule, Patrice took to Instagram to pen a heartwarming message for The Real Housewives of Atlanta mom, whom she began dating in 2025. But it turns out the girlfriends have actually known each other for quite some time, nearly a decade before they went Instagram official.
Sway confirmed the relationship timeline in one of her latest Instagram posts: “Crazy how after 8 years we circled the block,” she captioned the January 27 carousel.
That’s right, Porsha and Sway were introduced all the way back in 2018, about four years before Porsha tied the knot with her now ex-husband, Simon Guobadia.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member spoke about her history with Sway during a December 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying she had met the Atlanta-based entrepreneur on social media.

“She and I had actually connected years and years and years ago on Instagram,” she said. “I had seen her page and liked a couple of things, you know how you give a like here, and that. So we had a little communication on Instagram over eight years ago.”
The pair ultimately lost contact after Sway set up a new Instagram account unbeknownst to Porsha.
“Her page looked totally different, so I didn’t connect the two,’” Porsha explained, “But I was still connected to her and her spirit, so I was like, ‘Boom.’ Click another like. You know what I mean? And then we ended up connecting in the DMs, and kind of from there I met her with [my sister] Lauren [Williams], and we had some drinks, we had a good time.”

Sway’s aforementioned Porsha tribute showed the couple posing before a Rolls-Royce while dressed to the nines. Porsha stepped out in an all-white ensemble complete with a form-fitting crop top with cutout details, a floor-length pencil skirt with a dramatic leg slit, and a fur-like bomber jacket thrown over her shoulders. Sway rocked a pair of brown barrel pants, a white button-up with a striped tie, and a gray sequined trucker jacket.
“My beautiful baby, P Willy. The most beautiful woman in the world,” she wrote in the January 27 post. “You’re so kind, thoughtful, nurturing, and loving. What I admire most about you is how unapologetically you live your life. You move on your own terms, and that kind of freedom is inspiring. That’s the energy we’re staying in baby – high vibrations only ‘round here! Keep being an amazing mother, daughter, sister and friend.”
Porsha returned the kind words in the comments section, writing, “Awe love you.”

The mother of one touched on her love life during the November 17, 2025, episode of BravoCon Live with Andy Cohen, when she was asked if she was “dabbling” in the “lady pond.”
“Oh, well, I have dipped a toe or two in the pond,” she replied. “And it is warm. It is warm.”
Less than two weeks later, Porsha and Sway hard-launched their relationship with a PDA photo documenting Sway’s birthday celebration.
“Happiest Birthday [Patrice],” Porsha captioned the carousel. “Hope this year continues to bring you everything you want and more!”
