Porsha Williams is sharing some major details on how she met her new girlfriend, Patrice “Sway” McKinney. The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member went official on social media with this special person in November, and is now revealing some new information about their sweet relationship.
The mom to daughter Pilar Jhena McKinley spoke with Entertainment Tonight earlier in December, where she opened up about how she met her girlfriend for the first time. “She and I had actually connected years and years and years ago on Instagram,” Porsha revealed. “I had seen her page and liked a couple of things, you know how you give a like here, and that. So we had a little communication on Instagram over eight years ago.”
But the two lost contact, and Sway got a new Instagram account, which Porsha didn’t know belonged to her. “Her page looked totally different, so I didn’t connect the two, but I was still connected to her and her spirit, so I was like, ‘Boom.’ Click another like. You know what I mean? And then we ended up connecting in the DMs, and kind of from there I met her with [my sister] Lauren [Williams], and we had some drinks, we had a good time.”
“I’m just doing what feels natural,” she added. “I really wanted to explore that side of Porsha, and I’m glad I did because I’m really happy. I feel really good about where I am, and my family is very supportive of it.”

However, Porsha is not putting a label on her relationship with Sway just yet. “We are very close,” she explained to the outlet.

“We are definitely still dating, and I don’t want to put too much pressure on it,” she noted. “You know, I move really fast. The next time you see me, I might be engaged. So if I’m doing it slower, let me do it a little slow. So yes, we are dating, we’re enjoying each other, we are very close.”
She also discussed the relationship in an interview with People this week in which she said that she decided to be open about the relationship because she wants to “live in my truth. In doing that, I have found someone who I really enjoy getting to know and it’s been great.”

But, it has taken a while to get to this place. She admitted to the publication that it was hard for her to date after her finalizing her divorce from her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia, in June this year.

“I couldn’t date. I was numb. It was really hard for me to connect with someone,” she explained. “So I really had to slow roll myself into it over the summer. That’s why my sister influenced me to just date. It just kind of happened naturally with her.”

In fact, Porsha’s new relationship has not impacted her co-parenting relationship with her ex-fiancé, Dennis McKinley. She revealed to ET that her co-parenting relationship is in a good place. “Yes, he’s my co-parent, but he’s also my ex-fiancé,” she explained. “So, sometimes, that line gets blurred, especially when I’m single…when I’m single, my ex-fiancé has questions.”
However, Porsha had previously appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in March, where she admitted that things are good with Dennis when she is single. “You know, it’s always good when I’m single,” she stated. “Now, we gonna see when I get somebody, but it’s good.”
