Law enforcement authorities in Texas are searching for a missing pregnant 18-year-old girl who recently missed an “essential medical appointment” and was already scheduled to have given birth. Savanah Nicole Soto, who was scheduled to be induced at a local hospital on Saturday evening, has not been seen since Friday, authorities say.
Soto’s live-in boyfriend, who is also the father of her unborn child, has reportedly been unreachable by those searching for Soto.
According to a Missing Person Alert from the City of Leon Valley, Soto’s family reported the teen missing to the city’s police department over the weekend.
“Ms. Soto, who is pregnant and has passed her delivery date, has caused significant concern among her family members after missing an essential medical appointment,” the alert states. “The family initially reached out to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), and a CLEAR alert was issued.”
In the CLEAR alert, which pertains to non-senior adults who are missing and believed to be at risk of imminent harm, authorities described Soto as a 5-foot-1 white female weighing 115 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen Friday in the 6000 block of Grissom Road in Leon Valley and may be driving a gray 2013 Kia Optima with a temporary Texas license plate 4-2-8-9-D-5-7.
The place where she was last seen is the apartment complex where she lives with her boyfriend, CBS News reported.
Soto’s family spoke to San Antonio CBS affiliate KENS regarding the precarious situation and provided additional details about the circumstances of her disappearance.
Soto’s mother, Gloria Cordova, told the station that her daughter was “so, so happy because she was going to be a mommy,” noting that Soto had already finished the baby’s nursery. Cordova also reportedly said that they had planned for Soto to be induced on Dec. 23 and that Cordova was supposed to be in the room for her delivery.
Cordova said she went to her daughter’s home on Saturday afternoon after being unable to reach the teen but no one answered the door. Soto’s phone had been turned off, Cordova told KENS, so she decided to look for her at the hospital, but she wasn’t there either.
Additionally, the mother said that the family has been unable to get in touch with Soto’s live-in boyfriend.
Soto’s grandmother also spoke to KENS and reiterated that Soto was excited about the prospect of becoming a mother.
“She was thrilled and excited about being a mom,” the grandmother reportedly told KENS. “I pray to God every day, every minute, every second of the day we pray to God to bring her home, to bring her home safely because we need her home, to complete our family again.”
Authorities and Soto’s family are imploring the public to assist investigators in any way possible. Anyone with information regarding Soto’s whereabouts or who may have seen her recently is being asked to contact Detective Massiatte at [email protected] or call 210-684-8897 immediately.
