Leighton Whitfield, age 21, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, was discovered, according to the police, on the fourth story of the hospital. He was identified as dead when found.

Authorities said that the shooters targeted the victim in the hospital visiting a patient and were shot by someone they knew during a news conference later on Wednesday.

Leighton Whitfield, age 21, was named as the victim in the incident, and Raymond Lovett, age 24, was named the suspect, according to the police at that news conference.

Just before 10 am local time, according to the Arkansas State Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire at St. Vincent Hospital.

The victim and the alleged shooter in a deadly shooting at a medical institution on Wednesday were found in bad condition by the officials accordingly.

Where Are The Victims Now?

The St. Vincent North Hospital where the deadly incident took place was under lockdown; soon later, the situation was under control.

Similarly, the victims affected by the scene were taken out of the building shortly after. People involved in the scene must have had a horrible experience, and those victims who people harmed must have escaped away.

Whereas the affected or injured had to wait for a rescue, security personnel moved the victims to a safe place as the hospital was in lockdown.

“We can confirm an active shooter at SVI,” the Sherwood Police Department tweeted at approximately 11:15 am local time. “No other information will be released at this time.”

Asper 6WBRC, In response to the gunfire incident, law officials from many agencies arrived as hospital staff members gathered with friends and family in a nearby Academy Sports store parking lot.

According to the hospital’s website, more than 200 doctors and staff members work at CHI St. Vincent North, which opened its doors in 1999.

According to CHI St. Vincent Chief Executive Officer Chad Aduddell, the hospital will debrief and examine its security procedures after the incident.
