‘Rust’ Movie Armorer Calls Jurors ‘Idiots’ In Phone Convos Ahead of Monday Sentencing – Crime Online

“Rust” armor Hannah Gutierrez-Reed blasted jurors in jail phone conversation ahead of her sentencing on Monday.

In a recent court filing opposing her attorney’s call for a conditional release from jail, prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis said that Gutierrez-Reed called jurors “idiots” and “a*******” in recorded phone conversations and complained about the less than three hours the jury took to convict her of involuntary manslaughters, according to NBC News.

The young armorer and safety coordinator for the movie also said she hopes actor-producer Alec Baldwin goes to jail and said she would not testify in his upcoming trial if subpoenaed.

Gutierrez-Reed was convicted last month for her mishandling of weapons and ammunition on the set of the Western movie, which led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during a rehearsal, as CrimeOnline reported.

Baldwin shot Hutchins while rehearsing with one of the weapons, which had been loaded with real ammunition, unbeknownst to assistant director David Halls, who handed the gun to Baldwin and told him it was safe to use. Halls got off on a misdemeanor, while Baldwin and Gutierez-Reed were both charged with felonies.

Gutierrez-Reed mentioned Halls in her phone calls, saying he “f***** Hannah to save his own a**,” the filing says.

Prosecutors are seeking the maximum 18 months in prison for Gutierrez-Reed, saying in their filing that her comments to her mother, boyfriend, and attorney’s paralegal show her “complete and total failure to accept responsibility for her actions.”

Their filing also notes that she is facing another felony charge for allegedly sneaking a gun into a New Mexico bar.

“Upon successfully circumventing the security at the bar she went into the restroom and made a selfie video stating ‘They checked my purse but they didn’t cheek my butt cheeks! Wah, wah, wah,’” the filing says.

Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney, Jason Bowles, said he intends to file a reply ahead of the sentencing hearing on Monday.

Baldwin is scheduled to go to trial in July.
