SC Man Leads Deputies on 120mph Chase After Gunning Down His Wife- LaQuincy Pollard, a 51-year-old man from Cassatt, South Carolina, was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase following an incident where he allegedly shot his wife, the mother of his two young children.
The incident began around 11:46 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2024, when deputies with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) received a call about a shooting on Boyd Road in Camden. The female victim, who was reportedly shot by Pollard, was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Pollard had left the scene before deputies arrived.
A few minutes later, around 11:52 p.m., a deputy spotted Pollard’s vehicle traveling along Dicey Creek Road towards Highway 1. The deputy attempted to stop Pollard, but he chose to flee, reaching speeds over 120 mph during the chase on Highway 1 involving KCSO and Camden Police. Pollard eventually stopped his vehicle at a gas station in Bethune and surrendered to law enforcement.
South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was called to process the crime scene. KCSO was notified around 1 a.m. Friday that the female victim had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Sheriff Boan released a statement expressing his deep sorrow for the loss of the young children, who had lost both of their parents due to a “horrible decision by someone they looked to as a protector, their father”.
