The Real Housewives of New York City alum Alex McCord and her husband, Simon Van Kempen, have truly been lucky in love. The couple has been married for over 25 years and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, Alex recently gave fans a whole new look at her engagement ring and wedding band from her longtime love that offers up a glimpse at the jewelry she wears to honor their union. 

Alex shared a selfie to her Instagram Story in February 2026, in which she revealed a closer look at the ring set. Her wedding ring appears to be a simple band paired with her engagement ring, which appears to princess-type cut on a silver-colored band. The engagement ring and wedding band seem to really fit with Alex’s sense of laid-back glam style.

In 2017, Alex spoke to BravoTV.com, where she shed light on what makes her and Simon’s marriage work. “Our marriage secret is, first of all, we came into it as equals, which not everybody else did,” Alex said in the throwback interview. “Second, our priority is always each other. I think there’s even a chapter in our book, We Were Here First. Before the show, before anything else, we always choose each other over whatever else is happening. I think that’s the secret.”

In May 2024, Simon shared a candid update on his marriage of two-decades-plus, in which he got a little emotional about his life with Alex. 
“No photoshop, no filters just 24 years of blissful marriage to the absolute love of my life [Alex],” he wrote on Instagram at that time.

He also shared a few more details about their wedding: “On this day in 2000 at Maxims on Madison Avenue we promised ‘til death do us part and I reckon we’ve got at least another 24 and hopefully 26 [plus] years of bliss together!”

Alex often posts highlights from her life with Simon to her Instagram feed, including getaways and vacations to celebrate milestones, as well as other outings at galleries and other activities. For instance, in October 2025, she shared a closer look at a night spent at the opera with Simon. “Because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed…date night tonight with the awesome production of [Rent],” she said, sharing a photo from her night out with Simon at the Sydney Opera House.

In February 2026, she appeared on Radio Andy and shared her reaction today to all the fuss that was made about her living in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn during her time on RHONY when catching up with Andy Cohen. “Brooklyn was on the map long before we moved there, but I will just say to everyone who gave me crap about it, I told you so,” she said.

Back in 2017, when speaking with The Daily Dish, Alex, who appeared on Seasons 1 through 4 of RHONY, opened up about the many changes her life has taken since, specifically in her career (more on that below).

“I have always lived my life pushing myself out of my bubble. I think that if you stay in your comfort zone, you’re not growing. If you’re not moving, you’re not growing. And so, kind of when I’ve been offered opportunities in my life or faced with decisions, I tend to go for the scariest one, because I think that that’s probably what will help me grow,” she told The Daily Dish at the time. “In a way, that’s how we ended up on Housewives. And it’s just been a long process to psychology and what makes people tick because I did try to figure that out a lot while I was doing RHONY.”
